Sine Curve Fitting to the 8 points of [1,7], [2,6], [5,8], [7,7], [9,5], [3,7], [6,2], [8,4]. y = a * sin ( b * x + c ) : defined in xy-plane (model frame). Above explicit form is converted to the implicit form below: a * sin ( b * x + c ) - y = 0. Then, orthogonal distance fitting (ODF) for implicit curve is applied. Fitting results (rotated/translated sine curve in XY-plane (machine frame)): (a, b, c, Xo, Yo, kappa) = (5.0291, 1.1616, 2.18415, 5.9839, 6.7951, -0.6879). Reference: S.J.
